Description In 1909, University City residents passed a bond issue for funds to construct a city hall. In this photograph, taken on August 25, 1910, Edward Gardner Lewis and friends and associates are gathered to lay the cornerstone for the new building at 6618 Delmar Boulevard. The Rev. James Long, pastor of All Saints Church, gave the prayer for the occasion. Lewis is standing just behind the cornerstone, and Father Long is standing next to him. The Park Hotel is in the background.
