Description	In July, 1909, the Missouri and Illinois camps of the Modern Woodmen of America held a joint encampment on the lawn just east of the Woman's Magazine Building in University City. In this photograph, Edward Gardner Lewis is addressing the gathering being held at Delmar Garden Amusement Park to hear guest speaker Senator Benjamin R. Tillman of South Carolina. Senator Tillman, wearing a white shirt, is seated on the platform behind Lewis. A similar photograph and extensive coverage of the event appeared in "The Woman's National Daily" on July 7, 1909.
