Description	In 1902, Edward Gardner Lewis purchased 85 acres of land in St. Louis County. Part would be used for his new publishing company headquarters, and the rest would be laid out as University Heights #1 Subdivision. In this photograph, the land is being cleared and mule teams are being used to grade the land.
