Description | In 1903, Edward Gardner Lewis hired architect Herbert C. Chivers to design the new headquarters for the Lewis Publishing Company. He designed the building using a mix of styles. In this photograph taken in the spring of 1904, the exteriors of both the Woman's Magazine Building and the Press Annex with it's Conservatory are complete. Sculptor William Bailey's two-ton cupids are in place over the arched windows. A lot of construction material still surrounds the building, and may indicate that work is still being done on the interior. |
