Description	In 1902, Edward Gardner Lewis purchased 85 acres of land in St. Louis County. Part would be used for his new publishing company headquarters, and the rest would be laid out as University Heights #1 Subdivision. In this photograph, the land has been cleared and appears to have been graded. Workers may be laying out sewer lines. The buildings being constructed for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair are on the left in the distance.
